Static and dynamic finger braces (ferule di Bunnel, stacs, oval8, ferule di zimmer...)
Treating finger injuries is particularly complex, as it is not easy to keep the hand in the correct position to promote healing.
To achieve the best results, various types of finger braces are used.
- Dynamic braces contain moving segments to keep the joints under tension and promote proper alignment.
- Static braces have no moving parts, immobilizing the finger joints.
- Bunnel splints are special braces that maintain the extension and flexion of the wrist and fingers. They are very useful for sprains, tendon injuries, and can be adapted for a single finger or the entire hand.
- The STAX splint is similar to a plastic thimble and is used to immobilize a single fractured finger or to treat hammer fingers.
- Oval-8 is a plastic exoskeletal splint. It is applied externally and corrects mild cases of finger misalignment.
- Zimmer splints are used to splint small finger fractures; they are made of molded aluminum with soft internal padding.
